In the WDM transmission system, not only high capasity transmission but also all optical transmission is expected. For the components in WDM system, high performance optical cross connect, optical add-drop multiplexer is necessary.



For the optical cross connect device, we have fabricated the optical deflector using arrayed waveguide fabricated by selective MOVPE.

In the variable index arrayed waveguide, the refractive index changes are different in each array waveguides because of the difference of energy level. Hence we can control the diffracted pattern for the operation of optical deflector.
