To convert the colour of light, that is the wavelength conversion, four wave mixing in the semiconductor optical amplifire is used. Four wave mixing is the third order nonlinear effect, and conversion efficiency is dependent on the nonlinear coefficient. We have numerically calculated the nonlinear coefficient in the low dimensional quantum structure, and fabricated the semiconductor optical amplifire using quantum dots structure.
